Go equipment

For players who would like to own a Go board (goban) and stones (ishi) they can find them at a local game store, online, and even import equipment from abroad. Both new and used or 'vintage' equipment can be found. The resources below are vendors that club members have used and like. Of course, there are more you may find through your own searches. How to choose the board and stones for your needs

Go can be played on a piece of graph paper if needed! But, many want to enjoy the aesthetics of the game and perfer solid wood boards and real stones. Many just wont a set they can easily carry to the local club. Whatever your reason for buying a set of stones and a board, you'll find options below, from inexpensive club sets to the highest quality equipment available today.

Yellow Mountain Imports

This online retailer carries equipment for many classic board games, including Go. Their sets are affordable and of good quality. Perfect for starter sets or club sets. They offer full-size 19x19 boards with smaller boards printed on the back (9x9 or 13x13). They also offer stones and bowls and even complete sets. 

Baduk.club Store

Baduk.club is a website intended to help Go players connect and play. The site also offers a store that sells reasonably priced stones and boards for club organizers. Additionally, it features a 'vintage' section where high-quality used equipment is available for sale. Much of this equipment is imported from Japan after being found in antique or pawn shops. If a Kaya floor board or slate and shell stones have been only a dream before, these vintage offerings could be just the ticket.

You'll find a wide variety of boards, stones, and bowls, as expected. Yellow Mountain Imports has a dedicated store on Amazon. There are a number of other sellers. You can order through Amazon or explore some of the seller's own sites as desired. 

Kuroki Goishi

If you're ready to step up to some of the nicest equipment and want it to brand spanking new, there are few sellers offering this kind of quality. And if you're in Japan, you can drop by and watch a master craftsman put lines on a kaya floor board with a samurai sword. Pricey, but truly works of art.
